Privacy Policy

MeetTheStreet hosts small, hand-crafted gatherings for young New Yorkers. This policy explains what we collect when you apply to join a gathering, why we collect it, and what we do — and do not — do with it.

What we collect

Everything we hold comes from the application form you fill in. That is:

• Your name — so we know who we are talking to.
• Your email address — the only way we contact you, and the only way we send an invitation.
• Your age, gender, and how long you have lived in New York — used to build a table with a mix of people, so a gathering is not thirty people with the same story.
• What you want out of an event, and what brought you here — the checkboxes, and anything you type in the free-text box.

We do not use tracking cookies, we do not run advertising pixels, and we do not build a profile of you from anywhere other than what you have typed into the form.

Why we collect it

To decide whether a given gathering is a good fit for you, and to put together a table that works — which is a judgement made by a person, not an algorithm. If a gathering suits you, we email you an invitation and you have 72 hours to claim your seat. That is the whole purpose.

Who sees it

The people who run MeetTheStreet. We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not share it with advertisers. Other guests never see your application — at an event they know what you tell them yourself.

We use third-party services to send email and to store the applications. They process this data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for anything else.

How long we keep it

For as long as you might plausibly want to come to a gathering. If you ask us to delete your application, we delete it — see below.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it outright. Email us and we will do it. You do not need to give a reason, and asking will not be held against you.

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Using it stops the emails and does not require you to contact anyone.
